05-24-2015 – Harvey Milk’s Birthday

On May 22, people across the globe will celebrate Harvey Milk Day and the life story, message, and legacy of slain civil rights leader Harvey Milk.

Join the Dallas Community as we honor his memory and celebrate his message of hope on his birthday to empower and inspire all disenfranchised communities.

Our 2015 theme, LET HOPE SHINE, seeks to inspire you to live Harvey’s dream and to be beacons of hope in our community. Bring candles, glow sticks, flash lights, battery operated bulbs etc. to add a light in the night to this year’s celebration and march!

We will gather at 8pm, Friday, May 22 at the Legacy of Love Monument (located at the intersection of Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs) for celebration, inspiration, a jubilant light up march through the heart of the “Gayborhood” and a birthday cake reception at Throckmorton Mining Company (TMC) with fabulous speakers and entertainers!

05-10-2015 – Erin Moore and David Taffet

David Taffet king of the Segway(s), is nailed each time by Erin Moore, who doesn’t let David get way with leading into pledge drive cues.  Erin Moore is doing double this show; not only as a guest with topics that will make you scratch your head without dandruff.  She is Pledge drive guest this week, subbing for Candy Marcum; who will be on next week, unless the Texas Legislator passes a law ending the world.  So it is a double whammy this week; pledge drive and Mother’s day.  Patti is still recovering from her voting activities and Lerone has the day taking family leave.

There is a conference here in Dallas, Texas at Double Tree Hilton @ North park & 75 from April 27, to May 3, 2015.

Each day transgender people are faced with bias that affects all areas of life. The National Transgender Discrimination Survey, Injustice at Every Turn: A Look at Black Respondents reports, Black trans and gender non-conforming people reported experiencing the highest levels of discrimination of all transgender people based on the combination of anti-transgender bias with structural and individual racism.

Key Issues that affect the black trans community as a result of discrimination based on race and gender are inequities in income, education, employment, housing, health, legal justice and interfaith support.
